Prenuptial Agreements

A prenuptial agreement is a written contract entered into by two parties who are planning on getting married.  Prenuptial agreements protect the financial interests of the parties. For example, they allow parties to address how the property will be distributed and whether spousal support (aka “alimony”) will be paid in the event of a divorce.

Prenuptial agreements require full and frank disclosure of income, property, family assets, investments, accounts, and debts if they are to be upheld. It is important to consult with an experienced Family Law attorney if you are contemplating marriage and a prenuptial agreement.
